Duuuuuude. The mere fact that you know "Metropolis" is on the map makes you my friend. I think a lot of steam punk flavor is inspired by that film's look. A lot of the "-punk" genre pulls from that era (German Expressionism, film-noir, etc.)
Queen did a couple Metropolis-themed music vidoes a long time ago that were ahead of their time. One was "Radio Ga Ga" (I think) and one was "Under Pressure" (I think). You might Google those. My memory ain't what it used to be but don't let my graying hair fool ya. I survived the 70's/80's. Wes
For some reason, "Steam Punk" items remind me of the movie from the 30's called "Metroplolis".
