The man who planted trees...

This story really ministered to me.

I see why it spoke to you; what an encouraging story. It spoke to me as well and I won't muck it up by trying to add anything to it.

This beautiful story again confirms to me that it is only pain and persistence that can bring about true good things in this life... I have to say that it comes as a blow to an ambitious young person, although being young doesn't automatically exclude one from either pain or persistence.

Also nice to think about the healing power of trees. Tolkien was on to something...

I agree, Tolkien is a master at capturing the experience of nature especially trees. I have been reading The Lord of the Rings again and have noticed this a lot. It has been over 20 years since I read the story in entirety and its so much more deep, vivid and textured seen from older eyes and more worn feet. It is a feast for the mind.
