Scripture for today:
"Do not be excessively righteous and do not be overly wise.
Why should you ruin yourself?...-Ecclesiastes 7:16a
So what do you think that means?

I think it means to be careful not to be legalistic. The scripture goes on to say that, "The man who fears God will avoid all extremes" and later, "There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins." The word "overrighteous" is interesting to me. It makes me think of acting more righteous than God. The phrase, "why ruin yourself" reminds me of like when I say that I feel sorry for the Losers and then turn to my buddies and say, "in other words, I feel sorry for you."
