give...

Give to everyone who asks of you and whoever takes away what is yours,
do not demand it back. -Jesus in Luke 6:30

This verse is like a sword tip to my throat.
It presses me, pins me, pricks me and makes me bleed.

What do you do when your heart has been taken away?
When your spirit has been stolen from you,
and life has sunk it's vampiric fangs into your soul
and drained you of all your hope?

Give, and it will be given to you. -Jesus (vs 38)

My hands are empty and I am finding that if I try to wait for this promise, it does not come. But if I keep my hands open, something seems to be available still. Small and seemingly insignificant but I trust in His hands it can grow.

It is a mystery.

It will always remain a mystery, my friend. He will always be bigger than what we can comprehend. Thankfully, that doesn't hinder His grace and the knowledge we can attain of being one with that grace. Phillip Yancey had the best explanation for your verse, which, if I'm not mistaken, is from the Sermon on the Mount. He believe it to have been preached, not to bring condemnation upon us, but to make us ever aware of our need for Him......
