Aim for perfection...-2 Corinthians 13:11
Train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the lift to come. -1 Timothy 4:7-8
Pastoring is a lot like being a physical trainer, people can look at your example and listen to your advise but in the end they have to do the real work.
Some trainers are easy on you, some are more hard and some really kick your butt! A few are simply telling you what you want to hear to get a paycheck or their ego stroked by having the most clients. But there are some who really care about your health and their motivation is to see you excel and reach your fullest potential.
Fact: To change you have to train.
Many people say they want to be healthy but are not willing to do the hard work. They can talk the talk but are not driven to walk the walk. Some love to wear the gym clothes, stroll around the machines, carry a water bottle and chat at a leisurely pace on the walker but don't expect them to push it too hard.
They want to be inspired but they don't want to perspire.
What are we really aiming at any way? Are we striving for the highest goals or do we do just enough to look active but not enough to accomplish much? We expend enough energy to feel good about doing something but have no clear idea about what we really want.
We may be committed to the idea but not the results.
God's word says there is a promise to be seized in this life and the next but you have to face this reality...you will have to train yourself to be godly.
No blame game, no excuses, no pity party, no whining, no lame half-assed attempts at trying.
God calls us to aim at perfection.
What are you aiming at?

Eric, you're message about being a lukewarm christian left a sting...there are times I wonder where I'm aiming at in my walk...thank you for being an
influence in my life.
Rock on man!
Spence,
Good to hear that God used the time in His word to challenge you. It can sting but the pain is purpose being sparked. Keep pushing forward bro. God is doing good stuff in and through you.
