The Island...

I watched "The Island" a couple of nights ago with LeeElla and Alicia and thought it was awesome!
I really enjoyed it, two thumbs way up.

I took LeeElla to King Kong last night and she fell asleep during the first hour.
Women...

That battle between Kong and the three V-Rex dinos is simply the best monster battle ever caught on film. What a ride! I think I enjoyed it more the second time.

We've seen it twice too! I was so grossed out when the long necks tumbled over each other and it was nothing but rolling flesh....

Or what about the creepy-crawly scene down in the chasm with the way-too-large centipedes, scorpians and spiders!

Oh, man.

I actually liked the beginning of the movie. It developed the relationships between the characters, which I think is vital when it comes to making the last part of the movie, (mainly about the rescue from and of a large monkey) emotional.

By the way, did anyone actually cry during this movie? There was one lady in our row balling.

Two people I went with on the first time cried...I won't name names but one was a guy...which surprised me, I wasnt expecting it. All though I did feel the movie more the second time.

I also am intrigued about the whole making a grand film issue that ran through most of the movie. I wonder what jackson was saying in all that. I wonder how much was personal?

I saw the Island, and liked it as well, just about anything Scarlett Johanson is in I like. I find her one of the most believable actresses on screen. The Island reminded me of an old movie, that if you haven't seen you might want to rent, called Comma. A lot of similarities. Now it was a long time ago when I watched it and sometimes when revisited, well, it's not just the same but I saw it twice and remember I really liked it.

I agree, the first part of the movie seemed slow with the anticipation of the action we knew was just around the corner, but I thought his attention to detail in displaying the era was facinating and held my attention. Even the detail of the ship made we want to be a stow-away. The first scenes of the depression era were done so well I gobbled it up.
