What are we seeing in New Orleans?

In reading the article, I hope his assesment isn't completely accurate. It is bleak, and somewhat hopeless. I agree with much of what he said but I am not as pessimistic. We have a percentage of our culture that is drug bound, and completely without natural affections. Meth permits atrocities without conscience, violence without remorse and makes every man a threat. Hearing and seeing the reports of the looters and violent idiots does not make me in any way feel they represent the black culture in New Orleans.
I won't permit myself to believe it. In like manner, as I listened to some black idot on the charity telethone last night say, "Bush doesn't care about blacks," I feel black America, in large part, winced and rejects that mentality like I did. Things are not rosey, our culture has a corrupt side that defies description. Many mistakes have and will be made in the rescue attempts, it makes me crazy to see what appears to be simple solutions to some rescues that go unmet. But it is chaos, and every issue has a story, and every story is played out by just plain folks, and we all screw up in the midst of chaos. So we pray, we give, we share the grief and we hope.
