It's quite illogical, for a democratic country with elected officials to submit to a military coup; no matter how much one may disagree with the previous leaders.

Yes Spock, but you must understand Thais a bit before you make a logical arguement. Thais don't like confrontation. Thais are taught not to speak up from the time they are children. They are not like westerners in this way at all. You can push and push on a Thai and they will show no signs of displeasure. They are extremely humble and only grumble when things get real bad. Thailand is seperated into a large group of uneducated rural villagers and an educated urban smaller population. The rural villagers follow the tide and do what they are told. The city folk are bit more independent and have been pushing for Thaksin to get out for quite some time now. But with the rural population still doing what they are told under Thaksin who buys them out with promises and free cell phones, and loans they don't have to pay back... Thaksin has been kept standing. And even the rural population was losing faith in Thaksin. Beyond this is the revered King. Everyone from the common criminal to the rich elite, love the King unquestionably. He deserves this respect, he has done much for the Thais and his love for his people is clearly evident. When the King backs a coup, the people agree. All of them. Even Thaksin to a degree. So while the west judges the implications for democracy and other rhetoric, don't be too skeptical. Thais are ok with it, Really.
