Reformed or in need of reforming?

I am about to complete a 5 week series on the five Sola's of the reformation: Scripture alone, Christ alone, grace alone, faith alone and this week is God's glory alone. It has amazed and troubled me how many people seem to be hearing these theological truths for the first time.

One comment showed me the reality that so much of our conversations about the bible, christian life and faith are clouded in man centered ideas and teaching. One person made this innocent but revealing statement: "So my christian walk is based on what Christ did?"

Is hearing a gospel from childhood to adulthood that is based on man's work very serious? Well...listen to Paul in his letter to the Galatian church:

If anyone is preaching to you a gospel different from or contrary to that which you received [from us], let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment) -Galatians 1:9. Thats serious business, them be fight'n words for sure!

Is the clarity of the gospel essential to living and walking with Christ?
According to the Apostle Paul, it really is and yet so many people really have a confused understanding of Christ's work and the completeness of it. Ask most christians why the gospel is good news and they most likely can't tell you...oh, how far the church has drifted from the rock of the finished work of Christ. God give us more reformers that will preach Christ and Him crucified.
