I think old Luther hit on something here...maybe everyone would be more congenial when hammering out theological issues if they had a nice dark beer smoothing out the conversation.

I read his writing differently. For me he's saying if you're sitting in the pew wishing you were in the pub, you might have a problem, and if you are in the pub and realize you have a problem, you might be thinking of church...
I could be wrong.
