I actually heard a message (in a mega-church, during a conference for pastors, the guy speaking was a pastor of a mega-church) about the benefits of *not* calling people who don't show. It's what they train the small group leaders at his church.
My mega-church is able to pool funds together quite well for dire needs - that is one benefit.
There have been many times when there has been an immediate need (in one of the many countries where we support missionaries) and upwards of $28,000 has been raised in one weekend's services in effort to meet those needs in the body.
It's my understanding that it's quite a challenge for several small bodies of believers (under different name-tags) to pool together to raise those kinds of resources. True?
Don't take me wrong...I totally see the disadvantages, but, this at least is one positive benefit?
not church size bashing here...just thought it was painfuly funny...Lets come up with a top ten reason to attend a small church, plenty of fodder there too!
