The Dusk of Shame

I did this piece as a reflection on the journey out of shame. All true
restoration is a mix of shadow and light. We are more than our
brokeness but our deepest hope is wed to it in a redemptive paradox.

In our nakedness we lie ashamed.
Bare and exposed, frightend and alone.
The Lord reaches down and touches us in our shame.
We draw him close, yet push him away.
He burns within, with his healing touch.
Yet the pain, we feel is way too much.
To be exposed before God is one thing, to be exposed before people is another.

Interesting, it sort of hits you right in the gut. I also dig the poem Dream :)

TY, Cole :) I'm not a poet, but this came to mind in light of the recent discussion.

Yes, I agree, the poem is a great addition. All the words and posts on this site and others in the mix...form the feel of the piece to me.

The arm is particularly a focal point to me...is it hers...or the abusers? It's the complex aspects of shame, abuse and sexual sin...we curse what has devastate us or others...and yet we wrestle with the same depravity and holy desires too.

We lust and mourn.
We love and selfishly use.
We hunger for intimacy and yet, reject closeness.
We abhor vulnerability and insensitivity at the same time.

As one saint said: "I was in love with my own ruin, in love with decay..."-Augustine, Confessions

I think Romans 7 is a soothing balm if understood correctly, it's a paradox that we live within...both liberated and emerging...but still divided and dying.

Coming to peace with the chaos...is the path towards healing.

Embracing the beauty that can both awaken holy passion and delight and can also start an unholy fire that abuses and destroys.

W must learn to handle our sacred flames...that becomes the work of inner healing and true holistic spirituality.

A fire in the living room is out of place...but in the fireplace...it gives light and warmth and beauty to all who dwell near it.

I think the image of human beings overshadowed by Celestial fire...in the upper room, perfectly pictures our dangerous dance.

This song, capture the hope in Christ that is being born...in us...in our brokenness, shame, filth, wounds, abuses, fears, dreams, hiddenness and exposed offerings.
