Goal

This was me at 218lbs in Feb 2006. Now 3 years later...255lbs.
That number is going to change. I've made some major changes since
August of 2008 and Lord willing, I will see some more by spring.

Way to go, I'll be praying for you. I hope you'll read my blog post which was posted today called "The Benefits of Being Chubby." :) Kind of funny, actually.

I did read it yesterday...and thought about responding but in the end didnt. Yours was a very honest post Mel, one that said a lot, it was very vulnerable and I respect that. But I disagreed with a number of your conclusions but didnt want to hinder the transparency by engaging the issues you brought up.

Mel, I would add...that my disagreement were not very big, you just said a lot of loaded statements in my opinion..Stuff that begs some follow up...but these types of issues are so personal and close to peoples hearts...it gets too personal to quick.

Good luck, brother. I know the battle of the bulge all-too-well myself.

Maybe you could just share a little bit of what you were thinking...?

Yes, I was contemplating today the long road ahead of me, while enjoying my 35 calorie plain ricecake. (whoohoo) Weird to watch Eric even deal with weight issues for the first time in his life. This is an area I've struggled with as long as I can remember...since the 3rd grade, I think. The strange balance of accepting and loving yourself, and yet hating your flesh enough to burn it off you, one ounce at a time - yes, a teeter totter I am familiar with.

"Hating your flesh enough to burn it off you, one ounce at a time..." That statement finds an echo in my heart, too. How tragically sad, not just for us, but for the many in our culture who struggle with this.
