Shame on the church...

I took this pic at a local coffee shop. Sad but often it's true. The
church should aim to change this perception.

How heartbreaking... It's not ALL the church's fault, though.

Mel watch the movie: Lord Save Us From Your Followers" I think that film makes a good case for saying it is the churches fault...maybe not "All" but most...though Im not sure who else to blame for the sin of misrepresenting Christ. Then us Christians.

I'm looking forward to watching it. I say it's not all the church's fault because, you know, the enemy of our souls might have something to do with it, too.

Yah, the devil is at work but most Christians are not really going to be able to point to him as the excuse for this or that when they face Jesus.

"But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. (James)

In the end most of the death in whatever form...comes through our own womb.

Jesus didn't talk to much about the devil in His sermons to the Churches in Revelations.

But I hear you, enough blame to spread around I imagine..the real issue is what will we do to redeem His name and the glory it deserves?

I love that verse out of James. :) I quote it so much to my family, I think they're going to gag the next time I say it.

You're right, we give the devil waaaay too much credit for things we ourselves are responsible for. We do need to look at our own hearts and motivations, and trust the God is taking care of the hearts of others.

Donnella preached an incredible message about blame at our recovery class a while back, in which she said it's a waste of time to blame anything on anyone, ever. There's no victory and no value in blame. And I agree with that. We each just need to do the best we can with what we have and what we're continuing to learn, by God's grace, knowing that He has a good and sovereign plan that will get along just fine with or without us, one way or another, for His glory.
